SRI LANKA

Sri Lanka is located in the heart of the Indian Ocean and is often referred to as the teardrop island due to its unique shape.

The country currently holds close to 100% of residential access to electricity with a grid capacity of 4,048 Mw in 2018.

Being in the equatorial belt, the island nation boasts a significantly high Global Horizontal Irradiance which is indicative of high solar resource potential.

The Sri Lankan renewable energy market is primed for rapid development with a country wide mandate to add 2,210 Mw of Solar Energy by 2039.

A government initiative known as the 'Soorya Bala Sangrayama' promotes the implementation and development of solar plants within the country aimed at adding a further 1,000 Mw by 2025.

Bangladesh is located on the eastern front of the Bay of Bengal marked by lush greenery and intricate waterways flourishing across the landmass.

The country currently holds roughly 90% of residential access to electricity with a grid capacity of 18,753 Mw in 2018.

With less than 1% of the total electricity generated in the country being source through solar energy, the government of Bangladesh is aggressively pursuing renewable energy sourcing for the country through foreign investors and developers and a mandate to add 2,000 Mw by 2025.

In the interest of further encouraging foreign investment into renewable energy infrastructure within the country, several tax exemptions are being offered on solar projects and minimum restrictions placed on transfer of income.
